Support Notes > Scanning Photos And Documents
The school has a flatbed scanner in room 517 and in room 1025. The computer connected to the scanner is local boot which means you login as either Student or Teacher.
In the Dock you should be able to see an application for scanning. This application is specifically for the scanner connected. However you can use an application called VueScan if you like as it is universal to support various scanners. VueScan is found under Applications > Scanners > Universal
1. Open the scanner application.
2. Lift the cover on the scanner and place the photo and/or document onto the glass face down. Close the cover slowly.
3. Adjust the settings in the scanner application according to the item you are scanning and the output resolution you need.
4. Click on Preview/Scan. Normally the scanner application will scan a preview for you to accept before it moves onto the final scan.
5. If you are prompted to choose a location and filename to save into, please use the Desktop and give it an appropriate name.
6. Please remember if you use the local boot Student account it will reset upon log out. Make sure you copy the files you need off this account before you log out.
7. Please remember if you use the local boot Teacher account it is shared therefore if you do not want other staff to see your work make sure you delete it after you have copied it to another location.
Notes:
1. Make sure the scanner is turned on. If you are not sure, turn if off and back on.
2. Scanners need to warm up before they can scan properly. Please be patient.
2. Scanners can be slow especially when you are scanning for high resolution. |
