Short for Media Access Control address is a unique identifier attached to network interfaces such as wireless adaptors. Computers equipped with a wireless adaptor usually has its MAC address printed on the underside of the computer. If you cannot find the wireless MAC address on the outside of the computer please follow the steps below to locate the wireless MAC address through the operating system.
The procedure for finding the MAC address in Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.x is below.
1. Click on the Apple icon in the top menu bar.
2. Click on the System Preferences...
3. Click on the Network pane.
4. Click on the drop-down menu next to Show: and choose AirPort.
5. Read the MAC address labeled AirPort ID.
The procedure for finding the MAC address in Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.x is below.
1. Click on the Apple icon in the top menu bar.
2. Click on the System Preferences...
3. Click on the Network pane.
4. Click on AirPort so that it is highlighted and then click on Advanced... button.
5. Read the MAC address labeled AirPort ID.
The procedure for finding the MAC address in Windows XP is below.
1. Click on Start.
2. Click on Run...
3. In the text box type in cmd and press enter on the keyboard.
4. In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig/all and press enter on the keyboard.
5. Read the MAC address labeled Physical Address. Usually there is more than one physical address. Make sure you read the physical address within the wireless network connection section. |
